More than 1500 pairs of  ''aftersocks'' have been sold in just three days.

The red and black-striped socks, emblazoned with an earthquake shake line, went on sale this week.

The Rural Women New Zealand fundraiser for quake-ravaged Christchurch has won support from MPs around the country who rolled up their trousers on the steps of Parliament yesterday to show their support.

The merino-blend socks have seen orders filing in from all over the world, with 1500 pairs sold in just three days.

An aftersocks Facebook page has more than 2000 fans.

Rural Women New Zealand national president Liz Evans said the socks were manufactured by the family-owned New Zealand Sock Company in Ashburton, and profits were donated to the Christchurch Mayoral Fund.

The socks can be bought from the website: www.aftersocks.co.nz
