Note: The below notice is for those whose car was stranded in the Central City. Many cars have been returned; many others have not been; some never will be.

New Zealand Police in liason with other agencies is working to remove all vehicles from the cordoned CBD area and return them to their owners.
We are using information from a number of sources including information you may have already provided to Police, Turners Auctions, Parks Towing and other agencies.
The process is still in development but as a general rule, vehicles that were parked on the street will be relocated first.
If you do not have keys for your vehicle or if it cannot be driven, you may need to arrange for replacement keys and towing.
Please wait until you have been contacted by Police.
You will be required to provide up-to-date proof of ownership and identification.
These details will be thoroughly checked by Police before releasing any vehicle.
We appreciate your patience and understand that this is very difficult for many vehicle owners but we are doing our best to reunite you with your vehicle as quickly as possible.
Please note that there is no guarantee that your vehicle will be recovered in a timely manner due to the level of damage in Christchurch City.
