Public passenger transport services update

Public passenger transport services update

17 March 2011, 12:30pm

The 40 Wainoni bus service recommenced yesterday and the 5 Southshore service was extended to Caspian St in South New Brighton.

The 40 Wainoni is beginning at the Hospital Parkside terminus, and will travel via Moorhouse Ave, Fitzgerald Ave and then its normal route from the city as far as the Wainoni Rd and Anzac Drive intersection. Buses will travel from there to New Brighton via Anzac Drive and Pages Rd.

The 5 Southshore service is operating along its normal route. However, buses will begin and end on Caspian Street and Rocking Horse Rd will not be served until further notice.

Buses on both routes will operate between every 30 minutes between 6am and 10pm Monday to Saturday and every 30 minutes between 7am and 10pm on Sundays.

The 480 bus route to Kainga, Brooklands and Spencerville are also operating. This route has a modified timetable because of the new school hours for Avonside Girls High, Shirley Boys High and Marian College. Students will be able to transfer from the 480 to school buses to their relocated school sites at North Parade in Shirley.

Metro Bus services will remain free to all passengers until Sunday 27 March.

Although tomorrow is a public holiday, bus services will operate to a normal Monday to Friday timetable.

Additional capacity will be provided on some routes where possible. This additional capacity will be operated at the same times as the scheduled services. For information about the current limited timetable, see http://www.metroinfo.co.nz/

Many parts of Christchurch are still without Metro bus services, however road and bridge conditions will continually be reviewed and further services will recommence when possible.

For more information on all bus services operating, go to www.metroinfo.co.nz or the Metroinfo Facebook page – www.facebook.com/christchurchmetroinfo. A limited Metroinfo call centre is operating Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm and can be contacted on 03 366 88 55.
