Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker's orange parka has become almost as famous as the man himself following February's earthquake.
Parker procured the jacket on a trip to Antarctica and although he could not bear to part with his own one he did commission one other jacket to be made.
The jacket was then auctioned off on Trade Me with all proceeds going to the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.
On social networking site Facebook there is even a page called 'Bob Parker's Parka' which has attracted nearly 7000 'likes'.
And now Parker has posted a 10-minute long video on his Facebook page showing the beginning of the Parker-Parka romance.
"I was asked where the orange jacket came from. It goes back a couple of years when I was offered the chance of a lifetime to head south ... to an amazing place. I made a little home movie of the journey [to Antarctica], and in there I get to meet the orange parka," said Parker.
Readers who are Facebook friends with Mayor Parker can watch the video here.
