The Christchurch Earthquake Appeal has now topped $54 million - all of which will go directly into helping rebuild the city's community.
Mark Weldon, Prime Minister John Key's personal representative for the earthquake appeal, said extraordinary generosity had been showcased globally.
"Money has come in from school mufti days, sausage sizzles and cake stalls, fundraising concerts and some fantastic displays of corporate citizenship - people have gone to huge efforts to raise money to rebuild Christchurch."
Recent donations include $500,000 from the American New Zealand Association and $800,000 from AMP Financial Services.
UK company Aviate Global held a charity day at their London office and raised NZ$500,000 for the appeal.
Weldon said all funds will channel into the Christchurch community to "rebuild places and spaces at the heart of communities".
